The ratio should reflect the expected operating current while preserving suitable resolution at normal load. A ratio selected only for the maximum possible current can make ordinary load trends difficult to interpret. 3. Respect polarity and phase association

CT orientation and phase mapping affect power, energy and power-factor calculations. Mark the installation clearly and verify each conductor association during commissioning. A reversed or mismatched CT can create data that looks plausible but is operationally wrong.

The CT secondary should be wired, terminated and protected according to the device instructions and project procedure. Never treat a live CT secondary as a casual measurement point. Use qualified personnel and the approved isolation or test method whenever work is required.

5. Validate the entire measurement chain

Compare selected readings against a suitable reference, confirm units and scaling, and check that the monitoring platform maps each value to the correct feeder or branch. Record CT ratio, location, phase, connected device and test results at handover.
